FLORA OF LAOS Fam. Begoniaceae Begonia viscosa Aver., sp.nov. Type Vientiane Prov., Vang Vieng Distr., vicinity of Vang Vieng town, around point 18°54’58”N 102°24’52”E. Secondary broadleaved evergreen dry forest on very steep rocky slopes and on the top of remnant mountain composed with highly eroded crystalline marble-like limestone at elevation 400-450 m a.s.l. Lithophytic undershrub with erect shoots to 2 m tall in crevices of open vertical cliffs. Flowers white, sometimes with light punk tint, anthers and stigmas yellow. Leaves above light green to dull gray or gray-brownish with palmate whitish marks, uniform dull purple below, petioles green to purple. Locally common. CPC 2438 24 April 2011 Photos. Primary dry evergreen and semideciduous broad-leaved forest on very steep rocky slope near karstic hill top composed with solid, marble-like highly eroded limestone at 350-430 m a.s.l. Lithophytic herb on shady rocks near hill top. Leaves above pale green with white palmately oriented white spots, below light green to pale pinkish, petioles dull pinkish. Not common. 9 May 2018, L. Remnants of primary evergreen broad-leaved very humid forest. Lithophytic and terrestrial herb to 1 m tall on shady rocky slope. Leaves dark uniform green above. Flowers and fruits pink. FLORA OF LAOS Fam. Begoniaceae Begonia viscosa Aver., sp.nov. Type Vientiane Prov., Vang Vieng Distr., vicinity of Vang Vieng town, around point 18°54’58”N 102°24’52”E. Secondary broadleaved evergreen dry forest on very steep rocky slopes and on the top of remnant mountain composed with highly eroded crystalline marble-like limestone at elevation 400-450 m a.s.l. Lithophytic undershrub with erect shoots to 2 m tall in crevices of open vertical cliffs. Flowers white, sometimes with light punk tint, anthers and stigmas yellow. Adpressed lithophytic forb in crevices of shady verical cliffs. Leaves below violet, above deep green with irregular palmate white spot. Very common. FLORA OF LAOS Fam. Begoniaceae Begonia viscosa Aver., sp.nov. Type Vientiane Prov., Vang Vieng Distr., vicinity of Vang Vieng town, around point 18°54’58”N 102°24’52”E. Secondary broadleaved evergreen dry forest on very steep rocky slopes and on the top of remnant mountain composed with highly eroded crystalline marble-like limestone at elevation 400-450 m a.s.l. Lithophytic undershrub with erect shoots to 2 m tall in crevices of open vertical cliffs. Flowers white, sometimes with light punk tint, anthers and stigmas yellow. Leaves above light green to dull gray or gray-brownish with palmate whitish marks, uniform dull purple below, petioles green to purple. Locally common. CPC 2438 24 April 2011 Photos. Primary evergreen mixed humid forest on rocky limestone on highly eroded karstic hills composed with gray solid marble-like limestone at elevation 1100-1200 m a.s.l. Lithophytic herb on vertical cliffs. Leaves above uniform green, below brightly red. Flowers pink. FLORA OF VIETNAM Begoniaceae Begonia sp. Cao Bang Prov., Thong Nong Distr., Yen Son Municipality, Nhieu Lung village, around point 22°46'07.9"N, 105°53'59.4"E. Primary fractionaly logged coniferous forest with Pseudotsuga sinensis along highly eroded rocky limestone ridge at elevation 1150-1250 m a.s.l. Lithophytic rosulate herb on vertical cliffs in shady humid place in rocky valley. Leaves dark green with light green palmate markings above, light green with purple nerves below. Begonia cavaleriei H.Lev.?

Cao Bang Prov., Bao Lac Distr., Hong An municipality, Mi Lung village. Primary broad-leaved and mixed humid evergreen forest (with Podocarpus, Pinus, Fokienia and Tsuga) on very steep slopes and along rocky ridge composed with solid crystalline highly eroded limestone at elevation about 1500-1550 m a.s.l. around point 22°49’15.4’’N 105°49’53’’E. Lithophytic and terrestrial herb in shady places on rocky mountain slopes. Leaves uniform green, petiole dull purple. Flowers pink, ovary purple, anthers and stigma yellow.
