Secondary broad-leaved evergreen forest with bamboo on rocky sandstone slopes at elevation 10–50 m a.s.l. Terrestrial and lithophytic rhizomatous herb on steep slopes of small rocky stream. Leaves to 0.5 m long, leaf blade elliptic, uniform grassy green. Flower bud globular about 6 mm in diameter, dirty purple. Anthers dull yellow, stigma white. Locally very common.
