Lithophyte herb on vertical shady cliffs composed with slaty stratified limestone mainly N and NW exposition. Rare.

Lithophyte on almost vertical rock walls. Occasional.

Lithophyte forb on rocks crevices of shady cliff of N exposition. Very rare.

Primary closed evergreen mixed wet mossy forest (with Cupressus, Taxus, Nagea and Pseoudotsuga) along tops of karst remnant limestone ridge at elev. 1100-1150 m a.s.l. Lithophytic forb on very steep rocky slopes and cliffs mostly of SW exposition. Flowers odourless; median sepal and synsepal pale green with brown-purple spots; petals light dull pink-purple with purple-brownish spots; lip

pink-violet; staminode yellowish. Locally abundant.

ridge at elev. 900-1000 m a.s.l. Lithophytic herb on travertine deposits on vertical shady cliffs. Rare.

N. Vietnam, Thai Nguyen prov., Dong Hy distr., to the north of Mo Ba village (21º46'N, 105º52'E). Primary wet broad-leaved evergreen dry closed forest on remnant highly eroded limestone ridge at elev. 500-700 m a.s.l. Lithophytic herb on steep slopes and cliffs composed with slaty stratified limestone mainly N exposition. Rare due to total overcollecting.

Flowered in Hanoi 20 May 2001.

Primary evergreen broad-leaved and mixed forest on W macroslope at elevation from 500 m to the mountain top elevated to 1425 m. Clustering lithophyte in rocky steep SW slopes and on rocky mountain top in wind formed gnarled forest at the mountain top at elevation 1350 m. Very rare.

N. Vietnam, prov. Son La, distr. Moc Chau, municipality Chieng Hac, vicinities of Co Liu village (N 20º51' E 104º38'). Primary evergreen broadleaved wet mossy forest along rocky tops of remnant karst limestone ridge at 1200-1240 m elev. Lithophyte forb on mossy vertical shady cliffs of N exposition. Not common. Flowered in horto in January 2006. Flowers odorless, central sepal white with light pink tint at the middle and purple-brown spots, petals and lip light yellow-brownish.
