Vietnam, Ha Giang Prov., Dong Van Distr, Ta Lung Municipality, vicinities of Xa Lung village around point 23º14’50’’N, 105º21’34’’E at elevation about 1450-1550 m a.s.l.
Degraded primary coniferous forest with Pseudotsuga sinensis, Tsuga chinensis and Pinus sp. on very steep rocky slopes and along tops of narrow rocky remnant ridge composed with highly eroded marble-like limestone.
Tree up to 15 m tall on very steep rocky mossy slope. Co-dominant of coniferous forest. Rare, probably unique locality, the species was not observed in nearest ridges.
