N. Vietnam, Prov. Son La, Distr. Moc Chau, Mun. Dong Sang, vill. Ba Phach, 20ø49'N, 104ø39'E, 1000-1100 m a.s.l. Lithophytic herb in heavily logged evergreen tropical seasonal broad-leaved submontane forest on lightly shaded vertical cliffs, in cracks or narrow shelves of south-east slope of limestone mountains near the ridge top. Dorsal sepal white, with pink-violet tint and numerous purple-brown spots at the center. Main forest dominantes are Acer sp., Lithocarpus sp., Quercus sp.sp., Polyalthia sp., Pistacia weinmannifolia, Schefflera pes-avis, Phyllanthus sp.sp., Quercus sp.sp., Sapotaceae, etc. Common ferns and herbs in understory are Cyrtomium hemionitis, C. pachyphyllum, Polystichum sp., Pteris deltodon, Phaphiopedilum dianthum, Begonia sp.sp., Carex phankei, and Urticaceae sp.sp. In population of P. barbigerum var. lockii. Very rare, only one specimen.
