S. Vietnam, Prov. Kon Tum, Distr. Dak Gley, about 10-12 km to the SE of Dak Gley town (4-6 km to the E of Dak Tung village). Open mixed forest with domination of Pinus khesya, P. dalatensis and Lyonia ovalifolia on top of ridges at 1400-1500 m alt.

in Ngoc Mi mountain system. Shrub about 3-4 m high. Not common.

of Ha Giang city. Primary wet evergreen broadleaved closed forest on very steep slope of karst remnant limestone ridge at 1400-1500 m alt.

Shrub up to 1.5 m hg in open rocks. Not common.

N. Vietnam, Ha Giang prov., Meo Vac distr., vicinities of Meo Vac town (N 23є10' E 105є24'), 48.2 km to 36є of Ha Giang city. Remnants of

primary open mossy wet mixed forests with Pseudotsuga brevifolia along tops of limestone karst remnant ridge at elev. 1200-1250 m a.s.l.

Shrub 1.5-2 m hg on open mossy cliffs. Flowers light violet, white at the base of tepals. Very common, usual codominanthe of shrub forest

stratum.

Treelet or shrub 3-4 m hg in open place along stream. Not common.

granite and shale rocks. Shrub up to 4 m hg in open places. Ripe fruits black. Common.

Treelet 5 m tall on steep shady slope. Sepals light greenish, stigmas and disc of male flowers pale yellowish. Not common.

Treelet 1-2 m tall on very steep rocky shady slopes and on mountain tops. Flower buds greenish. Not rare. Occasionally cultivated in local willages.

Tree to 20 m tall and 40 cm DBH with very hard light yellowish timber on very steep rocky slopes near and along ridge edge. Common.
