Dak Lak Province, M’Drak District, W foothills of Chu Mu Mt., dry secondary and remnants of primary evergreen broad-leaved forest on granite on steep slopes along rocky river at elevation 600-650 m a.s.l. Terrestrial herb to 0.6 m tall in shady steep stream slope. Flowers yellow, young fruits white. Not rare.

Tree about 6-8 m tall and 10 cm DBH on mountain slopes and along ridge edge. Not common. Widely logged.

Secondary senideciduous open forest and shrubs along tops of remnant limestone ridge at 500-550 m alt. Treelet up to 1.5 m hg with age about 35-40 years on open rocks. Male cones cylindric, up to 30 cm lg, about 10 cm in diam., old - pendant, dirty-brown. Not common.
