N. Tanaka note:Judging from the image of the specimen, the lobation of stigmatic branches issignificantly deeper (the branches are equaling in length the proximal simplestyle portion) than in var. cantoniense.Further, the proportion of anthers in length to the filaments within a flower islarger.The specimen is annotated by Hiep as D. calcaratum var. rubiflorum,but I have been unsuccessful to trace the name in literature.

N. Tanaka note: Characterized by the pedunculate inflorescences of a few flowers from leaf axils (inflorescences not confined to stem apices). This species has been recorded only from China. Flora of China treats D. pedunculatum as a synonym of D. calcaratum, but these are quite different species. D.pedunculatum was described on the basis of specimens in fruit, and thus its flowers need to be described.
