Primary dry evergreen and semideciduous broad-leaved forest on very steep rocky slope near karstic hill top composed with solid, marble-like highly eroded limestone at 300-500 m a.s.l. Small undershrub to 0.5 m tall on shady rocky slope. Flowers white. Common. 8 May 2018, L. Averyanov, Khang Sinh Nguyen, T. Maisak, Littideth Xaiyavongsa, Siphanom Keovankham, AL 807. This is closest to M. unifoliolata, but different from the staminal tube (with 10 long teeth). This genus until now recorded only 4 species (2014). Ii is also closed to M. longipetiola described from Vietnam (2014) in Quang Ninh province, all other species of M. the staminal tube divided 2 o 3. This species not divided.
