Vietnam, Thua Thien – Hue Prov., Huong Thuy Distr., Duong Hoa Municipality, Huong Thuy forest enterprise territory, around point 16°12'50''N, 107°36'29''E, mountain and hill slopes composed with shale at elevation about 200-250 m a.s.l. Fractionally logged primary and secondary closed evergreen broad-leaved forest on steep stream slopes. Canopy epiphyte on mossy trees along rocky stream valley. Flowers white. Not common.

Submontane primary evergreen closed forest on very steep mountain slopes composed with stratified solid shale. Creeping epiphyte on tall mossy trees on very steep shady mountain slope. Flowers yellowish. Locally common.

Bac Giang Province, Son Dong District, south west of Than Son at approximately 195 m , growing within the forest in undergrowth on or near the steep bank of a stream/small river. Mixed with several other species of Aspidistra. Collected in flower 22/11/2018. In cultivation it has flowered sporadically through the winter and into early summer (June). Creeping epiphyte on old mossy trees near top of ridge.

Flowers: tepals yellowish with purple-brownish stripes, lip purple-browhish with violet center. Not common.

N. Vietnam, Hoa Binh prov., Da Bac distr., 4-6 km to the N of Doan Ket village, Phu Canh mountain system (20°55′48′'N, 105°02′52′'E). Primary wet broad-leaved evergreen closed mountain forest on sandstone and shale with quartzite at elev. 800-1000 m a.s.l. Epiphyte on high trees. Flowers strong honey-sweet fragrant, yellowish-white with purple stripes on tepals, lip yellow-white with purple sidelobes and brightly yellow epichile, inflorescence and flower bracts dull yellow. Very common.
