Vietnam, Ha Giang Prov., Quan Ba Distr, Can Ty Municipality, about 3 km to NWW of Quan Ba town, around point 23º05’49’’N, 105º00’28’’E at elevation about 1200 m a.s.l. Primary mossy cloudy coniferous forest with Pseudotsuga sinensis on tops of high rocky ridge composed with highly eroded marble-like limestone along left side of Mien river. Creeping lithophyte on shady mossy rocky slope. Flowers yellow-brownish-orange. Leaves deep green above, deep violet below. Very common.

S Vietnam, Kon Tum Province, Kon Plong District, Xa Hieu, 14°39’N 108°24’E, 1260 m, found growing in thin undergrowth of highly degraded forest on crest of hill, above to cleared forest, with small slender Peliosanthes species, some plants with fruit/seed, flowering for many months in cultivation June to November, perianth lobes produced with yellow, pale green or white interior surfaces, 20.07.2018, Bleddyn Wynn-Jones, BWJ 15796.

Remnants of primary wet closed broadleaved forest on steep slope of mountains composed with sandstone and shale at elevation around 635 m a.s.l. Creeping epiphyte on tall trees. Flowers solitary, pale dull brownish. Locally very common.

Primary closed evergreen and semi deciduous broad-leaved lowland dry forest and open woodlands on hill slopes on basalt and shale mother rocks. Creeping epiphytic on tall trees. Flowers orange. Rare.

Bulbophyllum insulsum (Gagnep.) Seidenf.

N. Vietnam, Ha Giang prov., Quan Ba distr., Can Ti municipality, vicinities of Sing Xuoi Ho village (N 23º04' E 104º59'), 26.2 km to 002º of Ha Giang city. Primary closed evergreen mixed wet mossy forest (with Cupressus, Taxus, Nagea and Pseoudotsuga) along tops of karst remnant limestone ridge at elev. 1100-1150 m a.s.l. Epiphyte on mossy trees. Common.

Flowered in culture at 01 August 2001. Flowers unpleasant fish smelled: column and tepals except lip light dull yellowish-green, outside with brown-pink tint along midvein; lip light dull yellow-greenish with dark brown-purple margins and apex; columnfoot inside purple-violet.

Northern Vietnam, Lao Cai Prov., Van Ban Distr., Khanh Yen Ha municipality, elevation from Na Nheo village to the S from 680 to 880 m a.s.l. (around point 21ø58'28''N, 104ø15'52''E). Primary evergreen broad-leaved submontane forest on steep granite and quartzite slopes at elev. 800-880 m a.s.l. Epiphyte on mossy tree. Flowers with unpleasant smell; tepals white with pink purple stripes, lip light yellowish with purple marginal line. Not rare.

Convallariaceae

Northern Vietnam, Tuyen Quang Province, Na Hang District, collected from a highly degraded location, on a steep bank amongst dense shrubby vegetation, close to a running stream, the habitat only 5 m × 5 m, on the edge of a banana field, no sign of additional plants after combing the entire area for many hours, hence should be considered to be endangered, 22°21'N 105°24'E at about 220 m altitude, 9.12.2018, Bleddyn Wynn-Jones, BWJ 16271.

Plants with and without spotting on foliage, some plants with seed capsules covered with echinate hair, collected living plants flowering over several months from June to November.

Convallariaceae

Bac Kạn Province, Ba Be District, near Cao Thuợng, 22°27'4"N, 105°34'3"E, at 630 m, growing on a very steep unsteady loose limestone mountain, covered by primary broad leaved evergreen forest in occasional patches of soil, with very few other herbaceous plants apart from the occasional small plants of Peliosanthes sp., a terrestrial perennial herbaceous plant arising from strong almost woody subterranean rhizomes, to foliage that is unusually stiff and fairly thick of a very dark green colour, appearing blackish from a distance, sometimes spotted on young leaves, the foliage was also distinctly smaller (aprox. 20 x 7 cm) than other collections gathered at a lower altitude, accompanied by seed on several plants and even a flower on one plant, 9 December 2018, Bleddyn Wynn-Jones, BWJ 16249, BWJ 162250.

Secondary semideciduous and evergreen dry forest on very steep rocky mountain slopes composed by solid marble like highly eroded limestone at elev. 600-650 m a.s.l. Epiphyte on old mossy tree on rocky mountain top. Not common.
