Epiphyte on old mossy trees in shadow places over river. Very common.

Creeping epiphyte on gnarled trees on rocky tops of limestone ridge. Flowers dull yellow. Very common.

Primary closed broad-leaved evergreen submontane forest on steep granite and quartzite slopes at elev. 1000-1100 m a.s.l. Epiphyte on high tree. Very common. Usual co-dominant of epiphytic plant communities in canopies of high trees.

Vietnam, Ha Giang Prov., Quan Ba Distr, about 2 km to the NE of Quan Ba town, around point 23°05′49″N, 105°01′00″E at elevation about 1150 m a.s.l.

Primary coniferous forest with Calocedrus rupestris, Callitropsis vietnamensis and Pseudotsuga sinensis on rocky highly eroded marble-like limestone remnant mountains.

Epiphyte on mossy trees on shady wet rocky mossy slope. Flowers yellowish, lip white with purple marks. Very common.

Collections along ridge and in surrounding forest areas, in Burretiodendron forest on limestone of large rocks leading up to crystalline, marble-like (karstic) limestone at the ridgetop. Collections between two coordinate points: : 22,12,18 E, 106.04. at 410m to 22.12.25 N, 106.03.57 E at 742m at the ridgetop.

Primary broad-leaved evergreen wet forest on limestone at elevation 350–400 m a.s.l. around point 16°29'38.3"N 107°00'20.5"E. Terrestrial herb in shady places along ridge edge. Flowering in cultivation in Wales July to September.
