Quang Binh Prov., Minh Hoa Distr., Dan Hoa Municipality, Giang Man Ridge (Vietnam-Laos border) near Cha Lo Vietnam-Lao border gate around point 17°41’50”N 105°45’54”E.

Primary evergreen broad-leaved wet forest on very steep mountain slopes and cliffs composed with shale and sandstone at elevation about 600-700 m a.s.l.

Creeping epiphytic vine to 3 m long in canopies of tall trees. Flowers yellow, lip black. Not rare.

Secondary evergreen dry open broad-leaved forest on very steep rocky slopes and on tops of remnant mountain composed with highly eroded marble-like solid crystalline limestone at elevation 800-900 m a.s.l.

Lithophytic creeping herb on open rocky outcrops. Flowers dull yellow-orange, lip dull violet. Very common.

Slightly logged primary closed broad-leaved evergreen forest on slopes of mountains composed with shale and sandstone.

Creeping epiphyte (Hopea mollissima, Schima wallichii, Diplopanax vietnamensis, Choerospondias axillaris, Podocarpus neriifolius, Dacrycarpus imbricatus, Engelhardia roxburghiana). Flowers dull orange, lip with violet-purple-brown spot. Common.

Creeping epiphyte on tall mossy trees. Flowers dull yellow, lip dull violet at base, chestnut-brown to the apex. Common.

Terrestrial herb on steep dry shadow mt slopes. Flowers odourless,

white, center of epichile brown with yellow nerves, anther margin

light violet. Common.

Primary coniferous mixed forest with Calocedrus rupestris on very steep rocky slopes of remnant mountain composed with highly eroded solid limestone at elevation 900-1100 m a.s.l.

Terrestrial herb on shady slope. Flowers odorless, tepals light violet, lip white with violet tint and yellow spot on epichile. Rare.

eroded remnant ridge composed with soft stratified limestone

consolidated with numerous quartzite dikes at elev. 450-500 m a.s.l.

Lithophytic and terrestrial herb on very steep rocky slope. Flowers

white with red central spot on the lip. Common.

vicinities of Co Liu village (N 20º51' E 104º38'). Primary evergreen

broadleaved wet forest on very steep slopes and bluffs of remnant

karst limestone ridge at 900-1100 m elev. Terrestrial and lithophyte

forb on steep shady slopes. Flowers white, lip with brightly red spot

at the center. Very common.

Dry evergreen forest with bamboo on very steep rocky slope composed with granite at elevation 700-800 m a.s.l.

Lithophytic leafless herb with large flesh pseudobulbs on crevices and shelves of vertical granite N faced cliff. Flowers odorless, tepals white with light pink tint toward the base; lip pink-purple, darker to the base; column and anther cap light pink. Rare.

Nam Linh mt. (N 22ø47' E 105ø49'). Old secondary broadleaved wet mossy

cloud forest along tops of remnant karst limestone Nam Linh ridge at

1550-1600 m alt. Terrestrial herb up to 0.4 m hg in shady deep karst

crevices and depressions. Flowers: tepals white with pink-violet tint.

Common.
