Hemipilia discolor Aver. et Averyanova, sp.nov. (Type)

N.Vietnam, Bac Kan Prov., Cho Don Distr., Ban Thi Municipality, village Phia Khao, around point 22º16'58''N, 105º31'20''E at elevation 800-900 m a.s.l. (Lung Chang and Lung Li mountains). Primary broad-leaved evergreen closed and coniferous (with Pinus kwangtungensis) forest on very steep slopes and cliffs along tops of rocky ridge composed with solid marble-like stratified limestone. Lithophyte on wet travertine deposits on shady vertical cliff. Flowers: sepals light green, petals light green with deep violet marginal line, lip lemon yellow with light purple-violet apex, spur and column light green. Leaves light green, heavily brown-purple marked. Locally common.

Epilitic herb in crevices of open vertical limestone bluffs Leaves pale green with small numerous purple marks. Not rare.

Remnants of broad-leaved evergreen closed primary and secondary forest on steep mountain slopes composed with sandstone and limestone at elev. about 1200 m a.s.l. Lithophytic tuberiferous herb on open exposed travertine deposits on high vertical cliff. Flowers purple. Leaves with dirty porple-brown marks. Rare.

N.Vietnam, Thanh Hoa Prov., Ba Thuoc Distr., Thanh Son Municipality, middle part of Pu Luong range around point 20º28'14''N, 105º05'34''E. Primary evergreen seasonal broad-leaved closed submontane forest on basalt along main ridge at elev. 1450-1550 m. Epiphyte. Flowers: tepals dull yellowish with numerous reddish-purple marks, lip reddish-purple. Rare.

odorless. Locally very common.

Primary evergreen lowland seasonal broad-leaved forest on granite along flat rocky river valley at 240-260 m a.s.l. Lithophytic herb on mossy river rocks along water. Flowers white, odorless. Locally common.
