Ha Giang Prov., Bac Me Distr., Phieng Luong municipality, around Phieng Luong village. Primary broad-leaved humid evergreen forest on very steep slopes and along rocky ridge composed with solid crystalline highly eroded limestone at elevation 1100-1150 m a.s.l. around point 22°38’07.1’’N 105°19’22.1’’E. Epiphytic herb on mossy trees along ridge edge. Flower white to very light pink, lip with purple marks. Common.

N. Vietnam, prov. Cao Bang, distr. Thach An, about 28 km to SE from Cao Bang town (N 22ø29' E 106ø28). Primary evergreen broadleaved closed forest on steep slopes of remnant limestone ridge at 300-450 m alt. Epiphyte. Flowers odourless, white; gypochile yellow with brown stripes, base of white epichile with yellow and purple keels. Not rare.

(=Aerides phongii Aver.) Type
Southern Vietnam, Ninh Thuan Prov., Bac Ai Distr., in heavily disturbed primary seasonal tropical broad-leaved lowland woodland on silicate rocky slope. Branch epiphyte on old tree. Rare.
Plants were collected and offered for sale on local market by local collectors in February - March 2014, type specimen was purchased by Nguyen Phong at early March 2014.
Flowered under cultivation in private garden in Hanoi, collected at 12 March 2014 by Nguyen Phong and Phan Ke Loc P-11235

Broad-leaved evergreen submontane forest on slopes of remnant mountains composed with solid highly eroded crystalline limestone. Epiphyte. Flowers odorless. Sepals white, petals white with pink-violet tint; lip pink, purple-violet at the center; column pink-violet; operculum white, with yellowish tint; ovary white or light yellowish-green; later all flower white. Leaves thick, succulent. Rare.

Stems succulent, sometimes with red, peduncle red-green, bracts red-pink, young ovary dull green, lateral tepals dull red-green with white then dull red at tip, lower lip similar, 2-lip petals forming hood over rostellum, bright white, pink at base. Rare.

Vietnam, Quang Tri Prov., Da Krong Distr., Ta Long Municipality, around point 16º36’30’’N 106º52’52’’E at elevation 170-200 m a.s.l. Primary broad-leaved evergreen lowland forest on highly eroded solid marble like limestone. Terrestrial creeping herb in shady slope. Sepals dull yellowish-pinkish, petals white. Not common.

Hetaeria rubens (Lindl.) Benth. ex Hook.f.
N. Vietnam, Tuyen Quang prov., Na Hang distr., Xuan Tam municipality, near Ban Cai village (22º29'18''N, 105º19'47''E). Primary broad-leaved evergreen dry forest on very steep slopes of highly eroded remnant limestone ridge at elev. 450-500 m a.s.l. Terrestrial creeping herb in shady rocky slope. Leaves pure green. Flowers: sepals green with brown tint, petals and lip white. Locally very common.

Vietnam, Nghe An Prov., Tuong Duong Distr., Tam Quang Municipality, Tung Huong village, along Khe Mat stream around point 19°03′07″N 104°36′57″E at elevation about 250 m a.s.l. Lowland closed secondary old evergreen forest on steep slopes along rocky stream valley composed with stratified solid shale and sandstone.
Terrestrial and lithophytic creeping herb along steep rocky shady stream slopes. Sepals light pink, petals white. Not common.
