Primary wet broad-leaved evergreen closed forest (with Burettiodendron hsienmu as a main dominant) on remnant highly eroded limestone ridge at elev. 400-550 m a.s.l. Lithophyte herb in crevices of shady vertical cliffs. Leaves dark green. Not rare.

Primary semideciduous broadleaved forest on steep slopes and bluffs of S. exposition near the tops of remnant karst limestone ridge at 1350-1400 m elev. Terrestrial herb with white/light-green tessellated leaves. Very rare.

Primary mossy cloudy coniferous forest with Pseudotsuga sinensis on tops of high rocky ridge composed with highly eroded marble-like limestone along left side of Mien river. Terrestrial and lithophytic herb. Rare.

N.Vietnam, Cao Bang Prov., Trung Khanh Distr., Ngoc Khe Municipality, Pac Nga village, around point 22º54'59''N, 106º31'44''E, at elevation 800-850 m a.s.l. Remnants of primary broad-leaved and coniferous forest on ridge tops and on very steep slopes and cliffs of rocky ridges and mesae composed with light gray solid marble-like highly eroded crystalline limestone. Lithophytic herb on narrow shelves and in crevices of shady vertical cliffs. Leaves deep green / light green tessellated above, deep dirty purple-violet below. Rare.

Old open mixed semideciduous and coniferous (with Pseudotsuga brevifolia) primary forest along tops of limestone ridge and on steep slopes near ridge tops at 1350-1450 m alt. Epilite and terrestrial stoloniferous herb (with underground stolones up to 25 cm lg) on bluffy steep slopes mostly of E exposition. Leaves below heavily spotted with deep dirty violet, above deep green with fine white - deep green tesselation. Not rare. Dispersed and full pods are observed at Oct. - Nov.

Leaves contrastely tessellated above, dark dirty purple below. Not rare.

Primary evergreen seasonal broad-leaved and coniferous submontane forest on crystalline marble-like highly eroded limestone, very steep upper slopes and tops of limestone rocky ridge at elev. 800-850 m. Terrestrial and lithophytic rosette herb. Leaves deep green/light green tessellated above, dirty violet below. Not rare.

Terrestrial and lithophytic herb. Leaves and flowers of typical coloration. Locally common.

Epilitic herb with tesselated leaves. Flowers light green with brown irregular strips, slightly pleasant smelled, tip of staminode deep brown or nearly black. Rare, but occasionally abundant.

Primary broad-leaved evergreen forest near top of highly eroded limestone ridge. Lithophyte herb on shady steep rocky slopes. Flowers of typical coloration. Locally common. Rare in the area due to strong overcollecting.

N. Viet Nam. Ha Giang Province, Quang Ba District, at Sin Suoi Ho village and river. Degraded agricultural land among limestone rocks to ridgetop of exposed limestone under light canopy with many epiphytes and lithophytes on north and east facing slopes, at 23°06′57″N, 105°01′48″E, at 514-900 m. Lithophyte. Rarely flowering, upright tepal green, lateral with red-purple striations and more solid colored at base, labellum with red-purple spots inside, staminode tip deep purple, shiny. Occasional.

Remnants of primary humid evergreen broad-leaved forest on very steep slope of remnant hill composed with highly eroded marble-like solid crystalline limestone at elevation about 1250 m a.s.l. Lithophytic and terrestrial rosulate herb in shady rocky places below cliff near tope of ridge. Locally common.
