Secondary evergreen forest on very steep rocky slopes and bluffs of Song Da River canyon composed with slid gray highly eroded limestone with quartzite dykes at elev. about 250-300 m a.s.l. Terrestrial and lithophytic palm up to 2 m tall along water line of the river. Locally abundant.

Taxus chinensis Roxb.
Son La Prov., Yen Chau Distr., Muong Lum Municipality, Xao village, around point 20º59’54’’N 104º38’47’’E. Broad-leaved and coniferous (with Pinus kwangtungensis and Calocedrus rupestris) evergreen forest on steep slopes and on tops of ridge composed with rocky crystalline solid marble-like highly eroded limestone at elev. 1100-1300 m a.s.l.Tree 10-15 m tall. Arillus red-purple. Co-dominant of coniferous forest along ridge edge.

Son La Prov., Yen Chau Distr., Muong Lum Municipality, Na Lang Village, around point 21º01’17’’N 104º30’47’’E. Broad-leaved evergreen dry forest on steep slopes and on tops of ridge composed with rocky crystalline solid marble-like highly eroded limestone at elev. 900-1000 m a.s.l. Palm up to 1.5 m tall on very steep rocky slope. Fruits red. Locally common.
