002º of Ha Giang city. Primary closed evergreen mixed wet mossy forest

(with Cupressus, Taxus, Nagea and Pseoudotsuga) along tops of karst

remnant limestone ridge at elev. 1100-1150 m a.s.l. Lithophyte and

epiphyte. Flowers dull yellow, lip with brown stripes and two brown

spots on epichile. Abundant.

broadleaved evergreen forest on steep slopes and cliffs near the top

of karst limestone isolated mesae at elev. 600-750 m a.s.l. Lithophyte

on open mossy rocks. Flowers dull yellow, lip with brown stripes and 2

brown spots on epichile. Abundant.

broadleaved semideciduous forest along tops of remnant limestone ridge

at 550 m alt. Epilite and epiphyte. Flowers pale yellow, lip with deep

brown keels and brown venation. Very common, sporadically abundant.

Primary broad-leaved evergreen forest on very steep rocky slopes of remnant mountain composed with highly eroded solid crystalline limestone at elevations 1500-1750 m.

Lithophyte on mossy exposed rocks. Flowers light yellowish to white, lip with yellow spot at center. Very common, particularly near mountain top.

Epiphyte. Tepals yellowish with purple-violet stripes, lip with

purple-violet epichile and sidelobes, spur pale yellowish. Not common.

yellowish-brown center of the lip. Very common. Often abundant.

Dry broad-leaved primary and secondary evergreen and semideciduous forest on very steep rocky slopes and on vertical cliffs of remnant highly eroded rocky limestone mountains composed by solid crystalline limestone at elevation 500-1000 m. Terrestrial herb in shady rocky place. Leaves dark uniform green. Flower buds yellowish-white, purple stripped. Fruits globular, 1 cm in diam., dirty purple, rugose. Very common at 300-500 m.

Southern Vietnam, Ninh Thuan Prov., Bac Ai Distr., Phuoc Tien Comm., in heavily disturbed primary tropical seasonal broad-leaved lowland woodland on silicate rocky slopes. Branch epiphyte on old tree. Rare. Plants were collected and offered for sale on local market by local collectors in February – March 2014, type specimen was purchased by Mr. Nguyen Phong at early March 2014

Trees 20-25 m tall and to 0.5 m dbh. Dominant of the first (canopy) forest stratum at elevation 1000-1500 m a.s.l. Particularly common along narrow edges of ridges, on open very steep slopes and cliffs.

Dry broad-leaved primary and secondary evergreen forest on very steep rocky slopes and on vertical cliffs of remnant highly eroded rocky limestone mountains composed by solid crystalline limestone at elevation 300-900 m. Palm-like tree with erect stem 2.5 m tall, 22-25 cm in diam. on rocky tops of mountain at elevation 800-900 m. Male specimen. Old leaves glossy dark-green, 1.2-1.5 m long, pinnes very rigid. Vientiane Prov., Vang Vieng Distr., Nathong village, about 5 km to the W of Vang Vieng town, Tham Kang Mt., around point 18°55’51.4”N 102°23’50.6”E. Dry broad-leaved primary and secondary evergreen forest on very steep rocky slopes and on vertical cliffs of remnant highly eroded rocky limestone mountains composed by solid crystalline limestone at elevation 300-500 m. Palm-like tree on very steep rocky slopes and on vertical cliffs. Stem 3.5 m tall in shady place. Male specimen. Leaves 2.5 m long, pinnes 170-220, each 25-30 cm long. Cone ovate 30 cm, 22 cm in diam., light greenish, brown-orange hairy. Immature specimens common. Specimens bearing cones very rare.

Dry broad-leaved secondary evergreen forest on very steep rocky slopes and on vertical cliffs of remnant highly eroded rocky limestone mountains composed by solid crystalline limestone at elevation about 300 m. Palm-like plant on shady rocky very steep slope. Stem 5 m tall, leaves 2.5 m long. Female specimen. Seeds ovoid, slightly flattened, 5-6 cm long, 4-5 cm in diam. Sterile specimen common, fertile samples very rare.

Primary closed evergreen broad-leaved forest on very steep mountain slopes composed with shale, sandstone and granite at elevation 700-800 m a.s.l. Terrestrial herb on shady slopes along rocky stream valley. Fruits blue. Very common.
