Cao Bang Prov., Bao Lac Distr., Hong An municipality, Mi Lung village. Primary mixed and coniferous humid evergreen forest (with Podocarpus, Fokienia and Tsuga) on very steep slopes and along rocky ridge composed with solid crystalline highly eroded limestone at elevation about 1400 m a.s.l. around point 22°48’45.9’’N 105°51’10.8’’E. Tree about 6-8 m tall and 10 cm DBH on mountain slopes and along ridge edge. Not common. Widely logged.

N. Vietnam, prov. Cao Bang, distr. Thach An, municipality Thuy Hung, vicinities of Na Lit village (N 22°30' E 106°27'), about 27 km to SE from Cao Bang town. Secondary senideciduous open forest and shrubs along tops of remnant limestone ridge at 500-550 m alt. Treelet up to 1.5 m hg with age about 35-40 years on open rocks. Male cones cylindric, up to 30 cm lg, about 10 cm in diam., old - pendant, dirty-brown. Not common.

Thanh Hoa Province, Quan Hoa District, Nam Dong Community, Ban Lo Village, Ke Stream, the territory of Nam Dong National Reserve around point 22º25’46’’N 105º36’58’E. Old secondary broad-leaved evergreen humid forest on wet very steep alluvial slopes based on solid, marble-like highly eroded limestone at elevation of 600–800 m a.s.l. Terrestrial rhizomatous herb on steep shady rocky slope. Occasional.

Open wet low slope of small river in the center of town among agricultural private vegetable field (near bridge of main road). Alone much decreased tree about 19 m tall with bole 66 cm in diameter at dbh.
