Humid dense primary evergreen broad-leaved and coniferous forest with Pinus krempfii on granite and gneiss at elevation 1500–1600 m a.s.l. Terrestrial tuberiferous herb on needle-derived humus. Locally common, but only under Pinus krempfii canopies.

Fractionally logged primary evergreen broad-leaved and mixed forest with Dacrydium, Dacrycarpus and Pinus latteri on granite at elevation about 900 m a.s.l. Epiphyte on tall tree, stem pendulous to 20 cm long. Flowers dark purple. Not rare.
