Vietnam, Quang Binh Prov., Minh Hoa Distr., Dan Hoa municipality, Chuong Lon mountain, Vietnam-Laotian border, about 6 km to N of Cha Lo borders station, around point 17º44’04’’N 105º46’53’’E. Primary broad-leaved forest on very steep slopes and rocky cliffs of remnant mountain composed with solid marble-like highly eroded limestone at elevation 400-700 m a.s.l. Tuberiferous lithophytic herb with inflorescence stalk to 1 m tall. Spathe dull pinkish, flowers and axis apex whitish. Locally common.

Lowland closed secondary old evergreen forest on steep slopes along rocky stream valley composed with stratified solid shale and sandstone. Terrestrial herb along steep rocky shady stream slopes. Flowers white, spathe white with greenish tint. Locally common.

Remnants of primary evergreen lowland seasonal broad-leaved forest on steep granite\shale slopes of rocky river canyon at 200-240 m a.s.l. Terrestrial herb in shady place. Fruits white with blue tint or light blue. Common.

Primary evergreen lowland seasonal broad-leaved forest on granite along flat rocky river valley at 240-260 m a.s.l. Terrestrial herb on shady rocky stream slope. Spathe and inflorescence dull yellowish. Inflorescence and leaf stalk white-gray-green tessellated. Rare.

Vientiane Prov., Vang Vieng Distr., Nam Pe village, about 12 km to the W of Vang Vieng town, around point 18°58’41.0”N 102°18’54.1”E. Dry broad-leaved primary and secondary evergreen and semideciduous forest on very steep rocky slopes and on vertical cliffs of remnant highly eroded rocky limestone mountains composed by solid crystalline limestone at elevation 500-1000 m. Terrestrial and lithophytic tuberiferous ephemeroid herb with inflorescence to 0.5 m tall. Spathe white, purple at base. Male flowers light yellowish, female flowers dark purple. Inflorescence stalk brown, white spotted. Not common.

Terrestrial ephemeroid tuberiferous herb with inflorescence to 1 m tall in shady places at elevation 1000-1600 m. Spathe white, finely purple spotted at base, inflorescence axis dull yellowish, flowers yellowish. Not common.

Highly degraded primary and secondary evergreen broadleaved forest on very steep slopes and on tops of remnant mountains composed with solid limestone at elevation 850-950 m a.s.l. Lithophytic tuberiferous herb on shady mossy rocks. Male flowers white, spathe olive-green with violet tint white to yellowish spotted. Not common.

Highly degraded primary evergreen broadleaved humid forest on very steep slopes of remnant mountains composed with solid limestone at elevation 1100-1400 m a.s.l. Lithophytic herb on open mossy boulders. Spathe white to light yellowish green. Male flowers gray with violet tint, female flowers green. Not rare.

Vientiane prov., Kasi distr., Si Sang Vone village, around point 19°06'10.9''N 102°10'46.1''E. Secondary open scrub on flat alluvial valley between limestone remnant hills at elev. about 600 m a.s.l. Ephemeroid tuberiferous herb flowering with no leaves. Spathe and apex of floral axis dark dirty purple, male flowers greenish, pollen bright yellow, female flowers yellow. Not common.

N. Vietnam, prov. Quang Ninh, distr. Hon Gai, Halong bay, Dan Go

island. Secondary broadleaved evergreen forest on steep limestone

slopes and vertical bluffs on elevations 0-100 m above s.l.

Terrestrial and lithophyte forb on rocky cliff. Petiole tessellated

with light green/whitish, strong warted. Spathe brown-violet with

yellow at the middle inside, tessellated with white/greenish spots at

the base outside. Apex of axis deep brownish-violet, female flowers

dirty yellow, male flowers deep brown. Flowers with strong specific

(not rather unpleasant) smell. Tuber of flower size plant about 20 cm

in diam., subspherical, slightly compressed from poles. Very common,

but rare in flowers. Very common.

Remnants of primary broadleaved evergreen forest on top of remnant mountain composed with solid highly eroded limestone at elevation 1000-1100 m a.s.l. Lithophytic ephemeroid herb on shelves of vertical cliff. Spathe white to light yellowish. Flowered without leaves. Not common.

Old secondary open broad-leaved evergreen submontane forest with bamboo on very steep granite and quartzite slopes of mountain river canyon at elev. about 660 m a.s.l. Terrestrial herb on very steep shady rocky slope. Inflorescence axis white with yellow-greenish tint, male flowers light yellowish, female flowers green. Petiole and inflorescence stalk uniform green. Common.

Giant rosette herb with leaves up to 2.5 m long on wet open stream rocks. Spathe and inflorescence white, flowers light fragrant. Very common.

Slightly logged primary closed evergreen broad-leaved lowland forest with the dominance of species of Dipterocarpaceae (Dipterocarpus dyeri, D. costatus, D. alatus, D. obtusifolius, Shorea sp.) mixed with Lagerstroemia calyculata, Irvingia malayana, Anogeissus acuminata, Sindora siamensis, Pterospermum sp., on thin soils at elevation about 13 m a.s.l. Terrestrial herb to 0.6 m tall. Fruits red-orange. Common.
