N. Vietnam, prov. Cao Bang, distr. Bao Lac, municipality Yen Lac, vicinities of Yen Lac village (N 22°44′ E 105°50′). Primary semideciduous broadleaved forest on steep slopes and bluffs of S. exposition near the tops of remnant karst limestone ridge at 1350-1400 m elev. Fl. in horto at October-November 2000. Flowers odourless, central sepal white, toward base green, with deep purple longitudinal stripes; synsepal light green with two brown-purple longitudinal stripes; lateral petals deep black-purple, at base green, apex yellowish-pink; lip deep black-purple-brown; staminode yellowish-purple-brown, stigma yellowich-white, filaments green, pollen masses honey-yellow.
