Paphiopedilum hirsutissimum (Lindl.) Stein var. chiwuanum (T. Tang et F.T. Wang) P. Cribb
N. Vietnam, prov. Cao Bang, distr. Bao Lac, municipality Yen Lac, vicinities of Yen Lac village (N 22ø44' E 105ø50'). Primary open broadleaved semideciduous forest on vertical cliffs of karst remnant limestone ridge of N exposition at 1300 m elev. Lithophyte herb on vertical cliffs. Central sepal, synsepal and lip olive green with brown tint, lateral petals dull purple with olive green-brownish base. Flowers odorless. Rare, but occasionally abundant.
