FLORA OF VIETNAM

Fam. Orchidaceae Juss.

Paphiopedilum emersonii Koop. et P.J. Cribb,

N. Vietnam, Thai Nguyen prov., Dong Hy distr., to the north of Mo Ba village (21º46'N, 105º52'E). Primary wet broad-leaved evergreen dry closed forest on remnant highly eroded limestone ridge at elev. 500-700 m a.s.l. Lithophytic herb on steep slopes and cliffs composed with slaty stratified limestone mainly N exposition. Rare due to total overcollecting.

Flowered in Hanoi 20 May 2001.
