Northern Vietnam, Nghe An province, Quy Hop district, PuHoat reserve, 19°46'10.0"N, 104°47'10.7"E, 993 m a.s.l., on the shore of a fast cascading stream in the primary forest. 16 June 2016, Nikolai L. Orlov, Larissa K. Iohanssen. Flowered in culture in January and February 2018. Herbarium specimen prepared in 18 February 2018, NLO 054.
