Vietnam, Ha Giang Prov., Bac Me Distr., Phieng Luong Municipality, about 1.5 km to SW of Phieng Luong Municipality headquarter (22°39'29"N, 105°19'35"E). Heavily logged primary closed evergreen broad-leaved forest along rocky streamlet valley at the base of steep slopes of mountains composed with solid highly eroded crystalline and partially shale limestone at elev. about 900 m a.s.l. Terrestrial and lithophytic herb up to 1.5 m tall. Flowers white with green median nerve on tepals, anthers yellow, fruits black. Not common. N. Tanaka note: Characterizedby the pedunculate inflorescences of a few flowers from leaf axils (inflorescencesnot confined to stem apices). This species has been recorded only from China.Flora of China treats D. pedunculatumas a synonym of D. calcaratum, butthese are quite different species. D.pedunculatum was described on the basis of specimens in fruit, and thus itsflowers need to be described.
