Remnants of primary evergreen forest on very steep rocky mountain slopes composed by solid marble like highly eroded limestone at elev. 450-550 m a.s.l. along mountain stream.
Terrestrial herb on shady rocky stream slope. Young fruits green, rachis fleshy, dirty violet. Occasional.

N. Tanaka: "As you wrote, the plant looks very close to Pel. densiflora. However, it differs by the more conic, brownish corona and pistil with (5-)6-angulated ovary (vs. rounded ovary) and somewhat thicker (broader) intercarpellary wings (protrusions) of which the distal part is longitudinally grooved (vs. narrower, simple wings with no longitudinal grooves). The intermediate forms between P. densiflora and your plant may be discovered in the future between the two localities, but at least at this moment, they appear to represent distinguishable entities".
