FLORA OF LAOS

Paphiopedilum appletonianum (Gower) Rolfe

Saravan Prov., Sa Mouay Distr., to the SEE of Sa Mouay town, elevation from Ta Oy village (700 m elev.) to mountain ridge with highest point at 1350 m around 16°08’47.0”N 106°52’35.4”E. Primary evergreen humid mixed and coniferous forest on slopes composed with silicate rocks. Terrestrial herb in shady mossy place on tops of ridge. Leaves mottled with dark/light green. Flowers of typical coloration. Very rare.
