Northern Vietnam, Lao Cai Prov., Van Ban Distr., to the west of Nam Xay village (21ш58'42''N, 104ш00'37''E). Primary evergreen wet broad-leaved submontane & montane forest at elev. 1400-1700 m a.s.l. Lithophytic and terrestrial herb on wet very steep slope along stream. Flowers violet with white tips of tepals (inside tube). Common.
