of Bai Dai Son border station;
collections in forest above cultivations
(Forest possibly burned ca. 25 years ago
or so, only small trees and few fire
tolerant herbs).

Occasional tree to 10 m, at ridgetop.
Foliage of three types; juvenile narrow,
spine tipped, with two parallel, almost
white stripes beneath; adult of
decussate spine tipped leaves; male
cones yellowish with green bracts;
female cones (immature), light green at
branch tips; mature cones dull brown;
stem and cone (mature) with aromatic
clear resin; upper stem brown. DNA.
N.V.: "Chia Chua." DKH 6090 immature and
adolescent. DKH 6091 mature with cones.
