Northern Vietnam, Tuyen Quang Province, Na Hang District, collected from a highly degraded location, on a steep bank amongst dense shrubby vegetation, close to a running stream, the habitat only 5 m × 5 m, on the edge of a banana field, no sign of additional plants after combing the entire area for many hours, hence should be considered to be endangered, 22°21'N 105°24'E at about 220 m altitude, 9.12.2018, Bleddyn Wynn-Jones, BWJ 16271.
Plants with and without spotting on foliage, some plants with seed capsules covered with echinate hair, collected living plants flowering over several months from June to November.
These plants strikingly differs from the type in 6-7 lobed perigone (vs. perigone with 8-12 lobes), short perigone lobes 18–20 mm long (vs. 30–35 mm long), and stigma surface with 4–5 sections (vs. stigma surface with 6 sections). Further studies of their natural variations may recognize in Vietnam a separate variety of this species.
