Pristine primary broadleaved and mixed (with Dacrycarpus imbricatus) evergreen forest along mountain ridge composed with shale at elev. about 1000-1100 m a.s.l. Undershrub to 1.5 tall on shady wet, very steep slope. Flowers white. Not common.
