Remnants of primary broadleaved evergreen wet. forest on quartzites along Mit Noi river between Ho Mit and Ban Thao. villages at elev. 900 m (SSW macroslope of Hoang Lien Son ridge). Tree. 6-10 m hg in open steep slopes. Flowers dirty purple. Very common in. the area on elev. 800-1100 m. No NTH 2697   21-22 May 1999. International Botanical Expedition of the U.S.A.
