N.Vietnam, Lao Cai Prov., Sa Pa Distr., Thai Bac, around point 22(21'06''N 103(46'18''E, 1900-2000 m. Degraded secondary forest in grassy area. Old slightly woody saprophyte. Fruits dark red, fruit flesh white, seed brown with clear aril wing, rhizome bracts red, shiny. Rare. D.K.Harder, P.K.Loc, N.T.Hiep etc. DKH 5992 14 October 2000
