Terrestrial erect to arching herb with stem to 0.5 m long in shady place. Flowers dark violet-brown. Common. LA-VN 1074 4 April 2015. Primary broad-leaved closed wet forest on very steep rocky slopes and cliffs of low remnant mountains composed with highly eroded solid marble-like limestone at elevation 400-500 m a.s.l. Terrestrial herb on shady slope composed mixed with solid eroded limestone and shale. Leaves dark green to 1.5 m long and 20 cm wide. Flower buds purple. Fruit gray, globular, about 4 cm in diam. N. Tanaka note: P. vietnamicum is described as differingfrom P. kingianum in the charactersof filaments and the degree of constriction in the mouth of the perianth tube,but the difference appears small, hence it is included here in P. kingianum which looks highlyvariable. To study the difference in filaments, we need to examine thelongitudinal section of the flowers. My identifications are thus not socritical at present.
