Dry broad-leaved primary and secondary evergreen forest on very steep rocky slopes and on vertical cliffs of remnant highly eroded rocky limestone mountains composed by solid crystalline limestone at elevation 300-900 m.
Sterile (young?) palm-like tree with erect stem 0.5 m tall, 20 cm in diam. on rocky tops of mountain at elevation 800-900 m. Old leaves glossy dark-green, 1-1.3 m long. Common.

Cultivated female specimen originated from nearest limestone mountains covered with secondary and primary broadleaved evergreen closed forest at elev. 100-250 m a.s.l.
Palm like plant with stem about 20 cm tall.
