Old humid secondary evergreen broad-leaved submontane forest of steep mountain slopes composed with sandstone at elevations 750–820 m a.s.l. along small stream. Epiphyte on tall tree on mountain slope. Occasional.

Lao Cai Prov., Sapa Distr., the territory of Hoang Lien National Park allied to Sapa Town, route to Ham Rong mountain, around point N 22º20’02’’ E 103º50’55”, elevation 1600-1680 m a.s.l. Humid mossy secondary forest and scrub on very steep slopes of mountain composed with solid marble-like highly eroded limestone on the territory of town botanical garden. Terrestrial and lithophytic herb on open mossy limestone rocks. Rare.

Gia Lai Province, K’Bang District, Kon Chu Rang Nature Reserve, evergreen broad-leaved forest at elev. 700-800 m a.s.l. Epiphyte on old mossy tree. Not common. Flowers yellowish, lip with dark purple spot at middle. 15 June 2019, Nguyen Van Canh, AL 1144 (living plant only).
