Primary and old secondary broad-leaved evergreen forest on steep slopes composed with solid shaly limestone at elevation 900–950 m a.s.l. Undershrub to 0.5 m tall on steep rocky slope. Fruits bright red. Not common.

Leaves sometime with many white round spots. Flowers purple, anthers yellow. Common.
