Cao Bang Prov., Bao Lac Distr., Dinh Phung municipality, Ban O village. Primary mixed and coniferous evergreen humid forest with (Pinus sp., Pseudotsuga sinensis, Podocarpus neriifolius) on very steep slopes and on mountain tops composed by solid highly eroded limestone at elevation 1200-1300 m a.s.l. around point 22°45’24.8’’N 105°46’47.9’’E. Tree about 15 m tall and 30-40 cm DBH on slopes and on mountain tops. Common. Usual co-dominant of coniferous forest.

Vietnam, Dak Lac Prov., Krong Bong Distr., Cu Pui Municipality, elevation from Dak Tour village (12º30'N, 108º30'E) to main peak of Chu Yang Sinh mt system (12º24'N, 108º26'E) along Dak Tour river (N slope). Primary mossy cloud mixed forest (with Pinus, Fokienia, Dacrydium and Dacrycarpus) on very steep granite slopes at elev. 2000 m. Tree 25-30 m hg. One of codominant of 1 forest stratum at elev. 2000-2300 m.

Vietnam, Lam Dong Prov., Lac Duong Distr., Da Chais Municipality, around point 12º08’17’N 108º40’47’’E, at elevation about 1600 m a.s.l. Primary mixed forest with Pinus dalatensis and P. krempfii on W slope of Gia Rich ridge. Tree up to 30 m tall. Common. One of dominant of first forest stratum.

Primary wet mossy mountain coniferous forest on sandstone (with Pinus dalatensis, Fokienia hodginsii, Dacrydium elatum, Dacrycarpus imbricatus) along ridge tops at elev. 1200 m. Tree up to 25 m hg. Common on slopes and ridge tops. One of main codominants of coniferous forest.

Pinus dalatensis Ferr?

Saravan Prov., Sa Mouay Distr., to the SEE of Sa Mouay town, elevation from Ta Oy village (700 m elev.) to mountain ridge with highest point at 1350 m around 16°08’47.0”N 106°52’35.4”E. Primary evergreen humid mixed and coniferous forest on slopes composed with silicate rocks. Tree to 40 m tall and to 1.5 m DBH on tops and on ridge slopes from 1150 to the tops of ridge. Large old trees not common, seedlings, saplings and young trees to 0.15 m DBH abundant. Cones 6-8 cm long in old trees and to 18 cm long in younger samples.

S. Vietnam, Prov. Khanh Hoa, distr. Khanh Son, 42 km to NE from Dalat city. Primary closed broadleaved evergreen forest on E macroslope of Hon Giao mt. ridge at 1500-1600 m alt. Primary and old secondary evergreen broad-leaved forest on very steep rocky slopes composed by white crystalline marble-like highly eroded limestone around point 22º27’20’’N 105º36’06’E at elevation of about 750 m a.s.l. Epiphyte on tall trees along ridge edge above tall cliff. Occasional.

Lam Dong Province, the border of Lac Duong and Dam Rong districts, Bidoup – Nui Ba National Park, mountain evergreen broad-leaved and mixed forest (with Pinus kesiya) at elevation 1600–1800 m a.s.l. Dak Nong Province, Dak Song District, Nam Nung Nature Reserve around point 12.1200N 107.4233E. Fractionally logged primary evergreen broad-leaved and mixed forest with Dacrydium, Dacrycarpus and Pinus latteri on granite at elevation about 900 m a.s.l. Creeping epiphyte on tall tree. Not rare.
